Known to his students as Angel, Miguel Ángel Lejarza brings conservatory training in Mexico City, Madrid and Paris together with a career as a performer, recording artist and teacher.
His studies include Renaissance and Baroque music at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, where he graduated with first class honours. He has appeared as a guest teacher and performer at festivals across Europe, Asia and the United States.
Now teaching online from his home in Dublin, Angel offers students around the world a direct connection to that experience.
Born into a Spanish family in Mexico, Miguel Ángel (Angel) studied at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico City and later at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Madrid. He continued his studies of Renaissance and Baroque music at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, graduating with first class honours, and attended masterclasses with José Luis Rodrigo in Madrid. Angel was awarded the Prize of Arts in Mexico five times by the National Council for Culture and the Arts. He also won the Mexico Conservatory Competition and the Rachmaninoff Conservatory International Competition in Paris. A founder member and head of the Guitar Department at the Conservatorio de Música del Estado de Mexico, he has lectured at the Casa de Música de Tlaxcala and the Universidad Iberoamericana of Mexico, and judged national and international music festivals. Angel has been a guest teacher and performer at music festivals in Europe, Asia and the US. He has recorded four solo albums with the Aulos label.
